Two figures sit close together, rendered in loose black ink strokes that suggest movement and life rather than rigid detail. Their sun hats and coats speak to a different era, when such moments were pressed into film by simple box cameras. The brushwork here mirrors that aesthetic, direct and economical, unafraid of spontaneity. There’s a quality of immediacy to the mark-making, as though the artist caught these two in a fleeting exchange, a gesture of closeness suspended on paper.
The composition moves beyond mere portraiture into something more emotional. Grey wash pools and recedes across the page, creating depth without heavy shadow or the weight of detail.
